“Sreja” Nebbiolo Roero Riserva Docg – Cascina Fornace

£66,40

“Sreja” is the name of a rugged and beautiful vineyard, worked by hand, in Santo Stefano Roero. It is the oldest Nebbiolo plot in Roero. This plot reveals a perfect natural microbial environment after World War II, with no pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or tillage for decades. This wine is produced from a single vineyard at 300-380 meters altitude on sandy soils with clay and silt components.

Vinification: The steep slopes ensure optimal exposure of the bunches. After a traditional harvest, the alcoholic fermentation with only indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, followed by 20 days of submerged cap skin maceration and spontaneous malolactic fermentation in spring. Ageing for 22 months in barrique, a few months in steel, and then in bottle, without filtration or clarification.

Tasting notes: This intense red wine is dominated by spicy notes that blend perfectly with hints of ripe fruit. The Nebbiolo also adds its slightly savoury touch, giving everything a pleasant sensation of freshness.s.
