Domaine des Ronces, founded in 1950 by Georges Mazier, is a distinguished vineyard located in the charming village of Orbagna in the southern Jura department. In 1986, the estate was passed to Michel Mazier, who expertly expanded it to six hectares, nurturing a rich winemaking tradition. In 2010, the vineyard began its organic conversion, embracing sustainable practices that laid the groundwork for its biodynamic approach. By 2014, Domaine des Ronces had integrated biodynamic preparations, employing remedies such as 500 and 501, along with nettle and horsetail infusions, to enhance the vitality of its vines. The family’s commitment to quality continued with the arrival of Kevin, the third generation, in 2016 a milestone year that also saw the vineyard attain Demeter
certification, solidifying its dedication to biodynamic principles. Domaine des Ronces features three main terroirs that contribute to its exceptional wines. The first, a clay-limestone soil with East/West exposure, is ideal for white grape varieties, while the red grapes flourish in a separate clay-limestone terrain with a South/North exposure. This meticulous attention to terroir ensures that each bottle encapsulates the distinctive essence of the Jura region, reflecting the passion and expertise of the Mazier family.
