Barolo Docg Brunate – Virna Borgogno
£79,00
Vinification: Brunate is a premium, single-vineyard from Brunate cru, straddling La Morra and Barolo. Crafted entirely from Nebbiolo, it boasts a powerful structure, refined floral lift, and formidable aging potential. The grapes, harvested from calcareous-clay soils with southwest exposure, are stainless steel-fermented and aged in large Slavonian oak, with lengthy maceration. Its firm tannins reward patience, maturing gracefully for decades in the cellar and beyond.
Tasting note: A deep ruby-to-garnet hue with evolving brick and garnet edges. On the nose, intoxicating violets mingle with wilted roses, red fruits, and notes of tobacco, liquorice, cocoa, and spice. Palate is full-bodied, austere yet balanced, with firm, velvety tannins and crisp acidity. The finish is long, mineral-driven, leaving liquorice root and baking-spice echoes.
