“LaSsuperiora” Blanc de Noir – Bardolino Superiore Docg – Villa Calicantus
£30,45
Vinification: From a lofty Bardolino hilltop, two hectares are devoted to Lassuperiora, where stony, sandy soils impart deep minerality and vertical focus. Harvested in late September to benefit from the north winds, this wine is a blend of 70% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Molinara, and 10% Sangiovese, grown at 300m above sea level. Fermented with native yeasts in 225L barriques and aged seven months, it’s unfiltered, yielding 8,300 bottles.
Tasting note: It opens with a complex bouquet echoing apple pie, lemon curd and inviting warm citrus, all cushioned by a gentle, creamy texture. Behind the fruit lies an earthy, saline, highly mineral backbone shaped by sandy, stony moraine soils. Structurally, it stands apart from typical whites, offering the weight and subtle character usually drawn from red-skinned grapes, with dry, medium-bodied depth and bright, refreshing acidity.
