Xarelo – Penedès Do – Els Ametllers – Bodega Plana d’en Jan
£19,00
Vinification: The grapes undergo destemming and chilling below 8°C before fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 17°C, preserving their varietal aromas. Following weeks of bâtonnage, the wine aims for a delightful balance of freshness and richness. Plana d’en Jan excels in “Micro Vinification,” sourcing organic Xarel-lo grapes from high-altitude, calcareous-clay plots in Costers del Montmell. The wine, free from additives and unfiltered, is aged for three months on its fine lees and an additional six months in barrels.
Tasting Note: This wine showcases a vibrant lemon-yellow hue, with an expressive bouquet rich in notes of baked apples and yellow fruits, underpinned by mineral hints of flint. The palate offers a generous yet structured mouthfeel, marked by crisp acidity and a lingering, salivating finish, reminiscent of well-crafted Chardonnay, with nuances of tropical fruits and a subtle touch of honey.
